A WOMAN from Shrivenham who was convicted in her absence of driving without due care and attention and failing to comply with a traffic signal has had the case re-opened.
Tina Chapman, 48, of Roman Way, Shrivenham, told magistrates in Swindon on Tuesday that she had not received the papers notifying her of the court case because they had been sent to her previous address.
Chapman, representing herself, told the court she learned from her brother, who had read a newspaper report, that she had been convicted in her absence and she wanted the case to be re-opened because she did not agree with the evidence.
She said she would be pleading not guilty to the offence of driving without due care and attention on Drakes Way, Swindon on April 14 this year and not guilty to driving through a red light at the same place on the same date.
The bench agreed to re-open the case and set a date for the trial to be held on February 6, 2018' at Swindon Magistrates' Court at 2pm.
Chapman was released on unconditional bail.
