A WOMAN who helped raise the alarm of a thief stealing coats from Marks and Spencer is being urged to come forward to police.
At around midday on Monday (Dec 4), the woman witnessed the theft of two coats worth approximately £200 in Marks and Spencer in Regent Street.
The woman identified the man to street team staff and he was located in McDonalds.
A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft from a shop and has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Police are now trying to trace the woman who witnessed the incident so she can provide a statement.
A spokesman said: "If this was you, or you know who it may have been, please call police on 101."
