ROYALTY will visit Swindon's oldest brewery today.
Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, will tour Arkell's Stratton brewery - as the historic firm celebrates its 175th anniversary.
The wife of Prince Charles is expected to get a taste of a brand new beer, brewed especially for the royal visit.
Called “The Duchess”, head brewer Alex Arkell says it is strong, dark and hoppy – with “chocolate, lemon and citrus notes”.
The beer was brewed using a historic barley variety grown at the Duchess of Cornwall’s Home Farm at Highgrove.
James Arkell, chairman of the Stratton-based brewery, said: "We are honoured to be welcoming the Duchess of Cornwall to our family brewery. It is a marvellous way to mark the start of our 175th anniversary year."
Today, the Duchess of Cornwall will also visit St Mary's Church of England Primary School in Marlborough. Pupils will show off the school's radio station, for which the children have designed their own jingles.
