A SOUTH Swindon parish work party has encouraged wider improvements along Shrivenham Road, a meeting heard.
The parish council has begun a work party to improve the Shrivenham Road allotments.
And South Swindon’s parish clerk Joyce Holman said that the works party – led by the parish council’s new environment officer – had encouraged others not connected to the allotments to “go out there and clear some of their own hedges”.
She said of the allotments: “People are starting to notice a difference”.
There was laughter and hungry cries at a meeting of the South Swindon’s leisure committee last week, when Ms Holman said: “Somebody brought us in some cakes the other day to say thank you for doing the work on the allotments.”
