POLICE are at the scene of what the Adver understands from residents to be a stabbing, the second in Swindon in least than 24 hours. 

One Whitehead Street resident, who claimed to be friends with the latest victim, said his friend was in intensive care after being stabbed.

A man in his 30s has been taken to hospital after being stabbed in the leg, police said.

Forensics officers are currently at the scene behind Curtis Street, swabbing a trail of bloody footprints. Around 60 yellow police forensic marker cones have been laid out along an alleyway running behind Curtis Street.

Officers have sealed off Dryden Street at the corner with Curtis Street. A house along Curtis Street has also been taped off by police.

A man living on neighbouring Whitehead Street, 52, said he had been woken by the disturbance in the early hours: “I looked out of the window and I saw a police man without his hat on looking with a torch down the road. It was between 2am and 3am.”

Another Curtis Street woman, 76, said of the alleyway behind her home: “There seems to always be trouble round there.”
