A GROUP of travellers took over Ridgeway School playing field on Monday afternoon.
Residents in Wroughton were shocked to discover a small cadre of mobile homes parked next to the pupils' rugby field, raising concerns on social media about rubbish being left behind.
Josh Barclay, from Wroughton, wrote: "They have a blatant disregard by just sticking their vans on the field wherever they want.
There are plenty of sites they can go to they choose not to though that’s the issue."
Paul Sippitt wrote: "Settling on the Ridgeway field is at the very least a Safeguard risk to the children at nearby schools, not to mention the health and hygiene risk."
A spokesperson for the school confirmed the travellers stayed for the evening and left the site yesterday at 10:30pm.
