COURT: A man who sent a grossly offensive message to a woman because he was motivated by hostility towards people of a particular sexual orientation has been ordered to pay compensation. Butch Sosa, also known as Samuel Baker, admitted sending the message on August 16 last year.

He also pleaded guilty to sending a similar message to a male victim on the same day. Swindon magistrates told him to pay a total of £125 compensation with another £85 towards victim services and £85 prosecution costs.

COURT: Having no licence and no insurance when he drove a car on Ash Grove on Christmas Eve cost Antonio Barbieri more than a thousand pounds.

The 25-year-old of Ramsbury Avenue, was not in court when Swindon magistrates found the case against him proved. He was fined a total of £880 with another £6 towards victim services and £85 court costs.

He was also banned from driving for six months because he was a repeat offender.

COURT: Mitchell Brennan was fined £100 after he used a VW Golf on William Street when it had been SORNed. Swindon magistrates heard a declaration had been made under the Statutory Off-Road Notification scheme. Brennan, 22, of Dunvant Road, was also instructed to pay £40 vehicle excise back duty and £90 court costs.
