FITNESS experts gave Swindon’s mayor a taste of clean living.
Super-fit gym trainers and nutrition specialists joined former mayor Coun Maureen Penny on her tour of the Nuffield Health gym.
She witnessed a hand and arm massage and was given a full health MOT at the Greenbridge health centre.
Gym manager Martin Skinner, who led the mayor around the centre, described her as a good sport.
Coun Penny visited on one of the gym’s regular emotional wellbeing days. Martin said: “Every three months we try and do something where we advise members about health, sport and physical wellbeing.
“We want to give a more rounded experience. Nuffield Health isn’t just a sports company, we’re a health company. Someone coming from hospital may need physical therapy.
“But we’re finding more and more people, particularly executives who might have had a breakdown at work, need emotional support. Quite often it’s emotional wellbeing we’re dealing with.”
Martin has been manager at the Greenbridge gym for just over a year, following an £800,000 refurbishment. He said there remained a great demand for the gym, with full membership lists.
