A SWINDON man out on license has been recalled to prison.
Police swarmed Eldene on Saturday, raiding a house on Kennedy Drive shortly before midday. Officers, including three local units, armed Tri-Force officers and a specialist dog handler, made two arrests.
They were hunting for 32-year-old local man Ashleigh McGregor, wanted on recall to prison after his license had been revoked.
A 27-year-old woman, Leanne Hurd, was also arrested for breaching a court order after failing to attend court.
Hurd, of Queens Drive, appeared in Swindon Magistrates Court on Monday charged with nine separate counts of theft. She had taken items from Morrisons, Boots, Sainsbury’s and the Cooperative.
The woman was given four 12 week prison sentences, to run concurrently and suspended for 12 months. No demand was made for costs or a victim surcharge.
McGregor has been returned to prison.
Two local men said they had seen Wiltshire Police officers chase a semi-naked man through the park near Shaftesbury Lakes. “There were coppers all over the shop,” the man said.
It is not known whether the mid-morning chase was related to the two later arrests.
