A dramatic portrait of the life of poet Dylan Thomas called Clown in the Moon comes to Swindon Arts Centre tomorrow.

Located in a BBC studio, it sets some of Dylan’s famous broadcasts and iconic works alongside vivid reminiscences of his clownish antics in pubs and parties, and his encounters with a host of eccentric and volatile women.

The play stars Rhodri Miles, who played the first mate in the episode The Laws of Gods and Men in Game of Thrones, as Dylan Thomas, and follows Miles’ acclaimed tour of the award-winning show Burton. It is directed by Gareth Armstrong and written by Gwynne Edwards.

Thomas was born in 1914 in Swansea and rose to fame as a poet. His life was tempestuous and he drank heavily, eventually dying at the young age of 39 while in New York.

He is famous for such enduring poems as Do not go gentle into that good night, a collection of short stories called Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog, and his play for voices Under Milk Wood. He first travelled to the US in the 1950s.

The title of the show is taken from a poem Thomas write when he was just 14 years old.

The performance begins at 7.30pm and tickets are £16. To book, call 01793 524481 or visit swindontheatres.co.uk.
