YOUNGSTERS struggling to decide what to do after they finish school are being invited to the annual Twilight Experience by New College Swindon.

The college is holding an open day on July 2 to give year 10 and 11 students a taste of what the teaching and learning is like after secondary school.

There will be a talk for parents and prospective pupils with staff and teachers who will be on hand to offer information and guidance to pupils trying to decide their future career paths.

Amanda Walton, head of marketing and customer services said: “We have been running this event for four years now. It provides an essential opportunity for Year 10 and 11 pupils to visit New College after school hours and experience taster sessions to see what life here is about.

“Often, pupils just don’t realise how many A Level and vocational subjects we offer that they cannot access at school. For some, it’s the only opportunity they will have to engage with College. It’s a great event and we have a good uptake.”

The taster subjects will include the full range courses, from media-make up, photography, business, journalism, to geography, chemistry, and maths.

Students applying for the evening can choose from five options to sample and will be allocated two of these on the day. The deadline for applications is June 27.
