RANGERS say they have managed to reopen Coate Water’s Splash Park after a spare part was rushed-in.

Parents complained that the problem-hit water park had been shut during many of the periods of warm weather this summer.

Swindon Borough Council, which runs the Splash Park, blamed a dosing unit. A spokesman said the kit, which maintains chlorine levels in the water, broke last Friday: “Without the dosing unit, users of the Splash Park would be more susceptible to infections and young children at increased risk of stomach upsets and diarrhoea, or worse. It would also break national pool plant guidelines.

“We appreciate parents will be frustrated the Splash Park has been temporarily closed, but the decision was taken with the public’s safety in mind.”

Spare fuses had been ordered and the pool was expected to be back open mid-way through next week.

But the parts arrived quicker than expected.

The council said: “The spare parts have arrived and been fitted at Coate Water Splash Park. The Ranger Team are delighted to let visitors know that the facility is open daily as usual from 11am to 5pm, but that people should remember their sun-screen in this hot weather.”

The Splash Park is open seven days a week.
