A WOMAN assaulted and stole money from a woman in her 60s in Rodbourne on Friday.

Around 4.45pm on June 29. the victim was crossing Rodbourne Road by the Premier store after withdrawing a £10 note from an ATM.

She still had the note in her hand when the thief grabbed it.

When the victim tried to get the money back, the thief pushed her to the floor.

Though shaken, the victim wasn't injured.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.

PC Ben Moore said: "This was a deplorable attack on a vulnerable woman who has to walk with a crutch due to disability.

"It was carried out in broad daylight with numerous members of the public driving and walking past.

"Someone must have seen something - if that was you, please contact me.

"I am particularly interested in speaking to two good samaritans who stopped to help the victim back to her feet."

Anyone who can help with the police's enquiries should call PC Ben Moore on 101, quoting reference number 54180059582, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
