PLANE enthusiasts hoping for a quick entrance into the Royal Air Tattoo were stuck in miles of traffic again this morning.

The traffic problems follow large queues on Friday which saw pilots having to walk to the airbase past rows of cars and people venting their frustration on Twitter.

Kirsty Plank wrote on Twitter at 11am this morning: “Shout out to everyone who paid upwards of £50 a ticket for #RIAT. Currently sitting on a country lane in traffic with a superb view of hedgerows.

Stephen Woodford wrote: “Access to #RIAT is an absolute joke! Glad I paid to watch the show from stationary traffic. Sort it out.”

180,000 people are expected to make their way to the airbase over the weekend.

Large queues of pedestrians also formed at the green ticket gate as security checks kept people waiting and cars parked in front of the gate caused a bottleneck.

Stuart Norris, who arrived at the site by 7am, wrote: “Queue at green gate is massive and hardly moving, still haven’t got into the airfield yet.

“They’ve parked cars in front of the entry so it’s bottle necked everything.”

The traffic appeared to lift by midday but anyone looking to get to the RAF100 flypast at 2:15pm are being told the leave lots of time to avoid disappointment.
