THE mahogany coffins stood just inches apart with two delicate wreaths intertwined in a beautiful gesture of closeness the couple were best known for.

With pillar candles providing a moving backdrop, one by one mourners arrived at St Bartholomew's Church last night to pay their final respects to Bob and Deb Fry.

The church was opened for three hours yesterday for friends and family to spend some time thinking of the loved ones they lost just a fortnight ago.

Bob and Deb, of Springfield Crescent, died trying to rescue their children Rosie, 11, and George, nine, off the coast of Praia do Tonel, Portugal on October 22.

Floral tributes were scattered at the altar surrounding photos of the couple during happier times.

One tribute read: "Thinking of you with the fondest of memories."

Jean Dinsmore, who also died during the rescue bid, was cremated in her native Herefordshire on Monday.

Friends of both Jean and the Frys visited St Mary Magdalene Church in Eardisley for a moving tribute to the mum-of-two.

Survivor Dean Plumb attended St Bart's with wife Sue and sons Sam, 12, and Harry, five.

The Frys will be cremated at Kingsdown Crematorium at 11.30am today followed by a memorial service at St Bart's where Rosie and George will join mourners to share their final moments with their mum and dad.

A large turnout is expected from groups including Wootton Bassett Rugby Club, where Bob was a member for 26 years, and members of Bob's junior football club The Brinkworth Cats.
