Cadbury's has announced that it will be releasing its first ever vegan chocolate bar with two new flavours.
The new bar will be based on the classic Cadbury’s Dairy Milk bars, which sold more than 71.7million bars in the UK last year.
There will be two flavours released: smooth chocolate and smooth chocolate with salted caramel pieces and both will be available at Sainsbury’s from November and other retailers in the new year.
The plant-based bars will be made from almond paste, meaning Cadbury’s have been able to maintain the traditional creamy taste of the original bars with a slightly nutty flavour.
Louise Stigant, UK managing director of Mondelēz International, Cadbury’s parent company, said: “At Mondelēz, evolving consumer demands have long informed our ambition to provide a wide range of products that work for everyone and the new Cadbury Plant Bar range is the latest stop on this journey.”
The Vegan Society, a UK-based charity founded in 1944, have approved the bars after a report from earlier this year said that 25 per cent of Brits have cut down their intake of animal products since March 2020.
