Young men
Willing to carry
The weight of the world
On their shoulders
Not yet ready to bare their souls
Or to let their hearts be lost
To vote for government
But to their cost
They hold their heads high
And walk into battle
To extinguish the dreams of others
And like for like
To have their hearts and dreams stolen
They sign the forms
To die for a land
That promises much
Then takes with the other hand
That they believe as heroes or martyrs
They will be remembered, treasured
By future braves
Who all too soon
Will follow their footsteps
And be lost
Forever
