A DARING woman is set to care for gorillas in Cameroon.

Donna Langford has never even seen a gorilla in the wild or been to Africa, but she will travel there in May to work at a wildlife sanctuary.

There she will feed and care for orphaned and injured gorillas in the Mefou National Park for the Cameroon Wildlife Fund.

The animal lover is giving up work for five weeks at an investment services company to look after gorillas and chimpanzees.

She needs £700 in sponsorship to help fund her trip and is planning a tandem skydive next month to raise money.

Donna saw a documentary about the sanctuary on television and wanted to experience it for herself.

"I've always been interested in animals," said the 23-year-old from Priory Vale.

"I'm not sure what to expect of Cameroon but it will be quite tough considering the cultural differences.

"Some of the local people even eat the gorillas."

The Cameroon Wildlife Aid Fund looks after 200 primates and relies on donations to fund its work.

"The sanctuary's work is incredibly important," said Donna.

"It is a lifeline for these animals. Without it, they would die."
