HUNDREDS of women are being urged to pull on their walking boots to remember lost loves and to support a good cause.

Prospect Hospice is making the call to women across Swindon to take part in its Starlight Memories walk.

The event, which is taking place on May 10, will see participants celebrating the lives of loved ones in a 10k walk from starting points in Swindon and Marlborough.

The walk will culminate in a late-night arrival at Barbury Castle.

"Many people welcome this opportunity to remember someone they have loved," said Rebecca Jordan, Prospect Hospice's fundraising manager.

Rebecca believes women from across the community will want to take part in Starlight Memories.

She added: "Many people will already be familiar with the concept.

"Many hospices and charities nationally have a night-walk firmly fixed in their annual calendar, and we think that Starlight Memories will meet a similar need in our area too.

"We know from listening to our supporters that there are many people who want to share their experiences with others, and to raise money through sponsorship for their local hospice."

Prospect are hoping to attract 1,000 women from across the community to take part.

The walk costs £10 to enter and the charity is asking for a minimum sponsorship of £50.

Funds from the event will go to support the day-to-day running of the Prospect, which is asking all participants to enter at least two weeks before the actual event.

Starlight Memories is expected to run from 10pm until approximately 2am. For further information contact Paul Maxwell on 01793 815142, or email fundraising@prospect-hospice.net.
