THE Sausage and Ale Trail returns to Old Town this weekend.

The popular food and drink festival is expected to attract hundreds of people to the Wood Street area from 12pm to 5pm on Sunday. The seventh annual event did not go ahead in 2020 or 2021 due to pandemic-related safety measures.

Restaurants, pubs and dessert shops will be setting up stalls and selling their wares to guests, with plenty of barbecue-style delicacies on offer as summer draws to a close.

The long line-up of confirmed traders includes Anytime Fitness, Balulas Cafe & Deli, GlamoRose Cakes, Hop Kettle Tap and Brew, Pick Up Point, Soleluna Pizza, The Tuppenny, and Rays Ice Cream.

There will be plenty of fun activities to keep the children entertained, and a range of ales, gin, prosecco and cocktails for the grown-ups.

Live music will be performed all afternoon,

Musicians scheduled to wow the crowds include singer-songwriter Drew Bryant, Commonweal students Jazzy & Zach, community group Ministry of Samba, and Get Carter frontman Mitch Coleman.
