A woman who was left stranded in a chilly Swindon car park saw her calls for help answered by a stranger who arrived to jump start her car.

Jared Brasington, from Haydon Wick, was enjoying a usual evening at home on Friday when he saw the woman's call for help on social media, after she broke down at the Asda Orbital car park.

The battery of her Toyota Yaris had run flat, and she had posted asking if anyone was able to come to her rescue.

“I happened to spot the message in the early evening which was by a woman asking for help with her car in the Asda carpark and noticed that nobody else had helped,” he said.

“I literally live five minutes away from the Asda and she was still there despite the post being up for well over an hour.”

Jared, a data engineer, decided to answer the call for help but had to equip himself with the relevant tools, digging them out of the garage.

“After I had got everything, I rushed out to Asda and arrived for just before 9pm," he said.

There was then a mini search in the large carpark for the woman in distress but Jared managed to locate her in the dark and offer his help, finding the stricken vehicle near the Starbucks.

“I then connected the cables and got the car started. It took around five minutes from saying hello to opening bonnets, and a further ten minutes to let it charge.”

The car soon was charged and the woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, thanked Jared and offered to pay him for his help.

“I did not wish to be paid as I just wanted to help,” he revealed.

“We said our goodbyes and I popped into Asda as I was there anyway!”

This was not the first charitable act that the 40-year-old has done, with his previous generous acts also involving broken down cars.

“I have pushed someone’s car around a leisure centre car park in the past,” he said.

“If I am available, then I will always try to offer [to help].

“These days it is nice to help people if you can and hopefully it inspires people to be kinder.”
