A SWINDON footballer who went viral after singing a John Legend hit in the dressing room has been praised by the iconic singer himself.

After their match against Colchester on the opening game of the season was called off, club captain Charlie Austin called on new signing Udoka Godwin-Malife to 'lift spirits' with a song.

Austin posted a recording of Udoka's performance of John Legend's 'All of Me' online later that day and it wasn't long before it went completely viral, with many impressed with Godwin-Malife's flawless vocals.

But there is no greater praise when covering someone else's song than winning their approval and that's exactly what happened when John Legend got wind of the 23-year-old's unexpected hit and reposted it himself.

Speaking to the BBC about the moment, he said: "I didn't expect the millions of views the video would get.

"The real highlight was when John Legend himself reposted it on his Instagram story and was impressed himself."

He added: "Everyone knows of course when you join a new club, the night before the game you have to do an initiation song for the group.

"So that was what I did the night before the Colchester game.

"The boys were shocked and gave me a lot of praise and love which is always a nice feeling."
