The moment American B-2 stealth bombers were diverted to RAF Fairford for hot-pit refuelling has been captured on film.

We previously shared some stunning pictures taken of the planes as they flew over Wiltshire skies by Swindon and Wiltshire Camera Club members.

But YouTube channel CobraEmergency, has posted a great video of the visit.

The two planes, Spirit of Alaska and Spirit of Ohio, are from the 509th Bomb Wing at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri and touched down at the local air base for a hot-pit refuel, which means they are refuelled while running.

CobraEmergency added: "They're currently on deployment to Europe as part of a 'Bomber Task Force (BTF)' and are operating out of Keflavik in Iceland.

"The Stealth Bombers had to divert to RAF Fairford for a hot-pit refuel while on return to Iceland due to no availability of tankers."

RAF Fairford, famous for its annual Royal International Air Tattoo, became a new permanent base for the US Airforce in the UK last year.

The occasion was commemorated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on December 6 outside the base's building two, which will be the new headquarters of the U.S. Air Force’s sole combat support wing.
