A ghost story show which has been described as “terrifying” is coming to Swindon next month.

Shock Horror takes audiences on a journey into childhood nightmares and being afraid of the dark and has been described as Stranger Things meets The Woman in Black.

After opening at The Churchill Theatre, Bromley, in September, the show will make its way around to the Wyvern Theatre in November.

The ghost story is the first of its kind to combine multi-media screen action with live stage performance.

Shock Horror’s plot revolves around a horror fanatic who, obsessed with finishing his life’s work, returns home to a haunted cinema.

The cast includes War Horse’s Alex Moran as Herbert, Emmerdale’s Chloe Proctor as Norma, Hollyoak’s Joseph Carter as Jack and Chris Blackwood as Karras.

Shock Horror is written by Yorkshire-based playwright and filmmaker, Ryan Simons.

“We wanted a ghost show that had broad appeal, something that resonated with both teenagers and adults to entice the next generation into the theatre,” he said.

“Films are carefully woven into the live action to create a blended performance that makes the play visual, captivating, and terrifying!”

Three shows will be held between Thursday, November 2 and Saturday, November 4 at the Wyvern with tickets ranging from £18 to £26.
