Tens of thousands of tickets have already been sold for next year’s Royal International Air Tattoo with “exciting announcements” on the way.
Over 25,000 tickets have been sold for the 2024 edition of the annual event at RAF Fairford, after 150,000 visitors were wowed by the 253 aircrafts on display in July.
People from around the world are expected to attend the airbase once again when next year’s celebrations kick off on Friday, July 19, 2024.
The event will last until Sunday, July 21, and aircrafts will arrive at the base as early as Wednesday, July 17.
Several themes for the 2024 showcase have already been announced including “Pushing the Boundaries in Air and Space.”
There will also be celebrations to mark 50 years of the F-16 Fighting Falcon and 75 years of NATO.
Additional themes are yet to be revealed but aircraft participation announcements will be made weekly from early next year.
Gavin Gager, the finance director for the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust, teased that some “exciting announcements” could be coming soon.
He said: “As always, we are overjoyed by the appetite for the Royal International Air Tattoo.
“At the moment we are working on some really exciting improvements and announcements for next year’s event which we hope to share with you soon.
“This year’s event was the biggest ever, with over 250 aircraft and 150,000 visitors and we are expecting similar levels next July.
“As always we’d like to say thank you to our supporters, including headline sponsor BAE Systems, who make the event possible.”
This year attendees were treated to a wide variety of aircraft displays, including the Me262’s UK airshow debut.
There were also activities available on the ground, where the event’s Techno Zone hosted an array of interactive exhibits and speakers such as Tim Peake.
The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust is the parent charity for RIAT and will receive proceeds from the event.
Their aim is to encourage young people to consider careers in air, space, technology, engineering maths.
The charity’s development manager Hannah Langford added: “From aviators, to engineers, to tech entrepreneurs, there are a wealth of potential future opportunities, and we want to show them to children and young people all over the UK, whatever their background.
“By purchasing tickets to the event, you are directly helping us to inspire children.”
