The Wyvern Theatre has been entertaining audiences for more than 50 years.

Photos from the Swindon Libraries' Local Studies department show what Princes Street looked like in 1964, before the construction of Theatre Square, and the slow progress of its development in the late '60s and early '70s.

Queen Elizabeth II officially opened the venue and attended the dedication of the pavilion by the Lord Bishop of Bristol in 1971.

Pantomimes, concerts, stand-up comedies, musicals, plays, parties, and a variety of countless other events have been held at the theatre since then.

It has become a key part of Regent Circus and celebrated the milestone of five decades in business in 2021.

Vintage vehicles can be viewed in an overhead shot of the theatre's car park which dates back to the 1970s.
