A popular store at the Swindon Designer Outlet which celebrated local businesses has closed.

Curated Makers, which opened in July 2023 in partnership with Outlet owners McArthurGlen, has now closed.

It was intended to support over 40 local independent artists and makers in Wiltshire and the surrounding counties.

The shop featured products such as jewellery, poster prints and coasters with all having a local connection, whether that be the theme or its creator.

Despite its popularity, Curated Makers has now closed its doors as the Outlet’s first departure of 2024.

A McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Swindon spokesperson said: “As the popular Curated Makers pop-up store has now come to a close, after the planned six-month trading period, we continue to deliver on our promise of providing new and exciting shops across fashion, beauty, home and more for our visitors.”

But bosses at the centre did not comment on whether it would return or not.

The six-month pop-up shop supported local entrepreneurs, providing a sustainable option by cutting back on emissions.

The store itself was built using wood and eco-friendly materials by Curated Makers co-founder, Tom Clarke.

At the time of its unveiling, Swindon Designer Outlet’s centre manager Tina Cumpstey said: “Championing local causes that matter most to our community has always been a key focus for Swindon Designer Outlet.

“So creating a pop-up in partnership with Curated Makers to uplift small artisans regionally is a perfect fit for us.”
