A long-running music festival will return this summer under new management.

WrdeUp has entertained crowds of hundreds of people near Swindon and Highworth for a decade.

The community interest company that organises the annual two-day concert has now been sold to Fandangos Productions Ltd.

The previous management committee struggled to cover rising costs but is hopeful that the new owners will ensure it can keep going for the foreseeable future.

WrdeUp Music Festival CIC director Chris Laken said: “With the ever-increasing costs we are experiencing to run the event, the volunteer committee found it was becoming harder each year to successfully deliver the festival and maintain the standards we had set ourselves.

“The opportunity to work with Tom Falding, a local Highworthian, and have his production company take the event on allows the festival to continue and grow as Highworth’s biggest garden party.

“As someone we have worked closely with over the past decade, this means the festival will be in good hands and with someone who understand the origins and ethos of the event.

“The committee would like to add that any cash reserves will be spent or donated in line with our community values and we look forward to announcing more details in the coming months.”

The full lineup for this year’s festival, which celebrates its 10th anniversary, will be revealed closer to the event.

It will be held on The Lower Rec in Highworth from 6.20pm to 11pm on Friday, July 5, and from 2pm to 11pm on Saturday, July 6.

Tom Falding, of Fandangos Productions Ltd, asked for anyone who wants to be involved with the event in anyway to email hello@wrdeup.co.uk

He added: “We’re very proud and excited to be taking over the reins from the departing committee, who have worked so hard to create such a fantastic family-friendly event for the community of Highworth and beyond.

“We hope to bring fresh energy to the show, we’ll be rolling out a few additions or the odd amendment to the event to help it grow while still maintaining the community, family friendly and musical spirit of the event”.

“I’m sure you’ll all agree, a big hats-off once more to the committee who have put in 10 years of dedication to cement this brilliant event on the Highworth calendar.

“Thanks so much for your support and we looking forward to delivering the key event for the town”.
