Best friends and business owners from Marlborough have opened a new preloved clothing store after years selling items as a pop-up shop.

Worn Preloved Clothing opened at 3 Hughenden Yard, just off Marlborough’s High Street on Saturday, February 3, and owners Amber Carling and Jo McEvoy could not be more excited for their future venture.

The duo have been running Worn as a pop-up shop at local markets for the last four years, but have been secretly hoping to take the next step and open in a permanent location.

“We cannot contain ourselves any longer,” the pair shared on social media in January 2024. "We are bursting to tell you all that we have only gone and got ourselves a little shop in Marlborough.

“We have been busy sprucing the place up with a massive helping hand from our lovely family and friends. We love it so much already.”

The opening on February 3 was a huge success, and praise has been pouring in for Jo and Amber's new store.

"We have had so much lovely support from so many people over the last week who are thrilled that there is now a shop like this in Marlborough," Jo told the Gazette and Herald.

"Like us, many people are now seeing the benefits of shopping second-hand."

Hughenden Yard in Marlborough is now quickly becoming nicknamed the ‘green brick road’ due to the number of sustainable businesses that neighbour each other.

Clothes that will feature in Worn, opposite the sweet shop, are sourced through a combination of Jo and Amber's own buying and on behalf of private clients via a commission basis.

This means that the business owners are able to sell preloved items from luxury designers, contemporary brands, vintage pieces and the very best of the High Street.

"Our aim is to offer a beautifully curated collection which appeals to all budgets, and makes shopping second-hand easy and fun," added Jo.

"We love that no two days in the shop are the same and we are able to offer such a range of brands.

"Ultimately, our goal and business ethos is to help reduce textile waste by giving clothes a new home piece by piece.

"There is enough clothing on the planet to clothe the next six generations, we just need to put it out there."

Worn Preloved Clothing is now open in Hughenden Yard, Marlborough, every day from 10am to 4.30pm except Sundays.
