An Eldene man has been banned from the roads and fined after being caught drug driving.
Ryan Baverstock of Bowleymead, has been banned from driving for three years and fined for the offence which took place on August 11, 2023.
The 24 year-old was stopped by police on Groundwell Road in Swindon. He then failed a roadside drug wipe test. He was initially arrested on suspicion of drug driving but later on was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis.
Baverstock pleaded guilty to both offences at Swindon Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, February 13.
The disqualification from driving will last 36 months, he was fined £150 and will have to pay a victim surcharge of £48 as well as court costs of £85.
PC Brewster of the Roads Policing Unit said: “I hope this disqualification serves as a lesson to Baverstock that you should never get behind the wheel of a vehicle while under the influence of drink or drugs.
“Drink and/or drug driving are one of the fatal five offences – which are the five offences most likely to contribute to a serious or fatal collision on our roads.
“We will continue to patrol Wiltshire’s roads and clamp down on those who are putting themselves and others at risk by drink and drug driving.”
