Swindon has been crowned as the best place to 'flip' a home.

Flipping is a real estate strategy that involves buying homes, renovating them, and selling them for a profit in a short period.

The study from the firm AB Drylining concluded that the town was the best place to do this based on many different factors that gave it an index score of 8.83 out of 10.

There are currently 302 properties for sale below market value, which is £275,799, in Swindon per 100,000 residents

There are approximately 3,200 monthly searches for houses in the area, suggesting that the chances of success are high

The team looked at sold property price data on Rightmove in the UK’s 50 most populated cities and the number of properties that are currently below market value (BMV) per 100,000 residents

The experts also looked at the demand for houses in each city according to Google, as well as the number of DIY stores per square mile

Swindon beat out other places like London, Plymouth, Cardiff, Oxford and Leicester to the top spot

No thanks in part to its extremely high demand score, which was the highest out of all 50 destinations included in the study.

The town also had a good property market score but fell a little short on the availability of DIY stores in the area.

Alfie Burrows, director of AB Drylining, says: “With living costs continuing to rise, more and more people are exploring alternative ways to boost their income, and house flipping can be a pretty profitable one. But fixing up homes and selling them for profit doesn’t just bring in cash, it can also revitalise communities and turn rundown spaces into something better for future homeowners.

“Our study suggests that there may no longer be a north and south divide when it comes to flipping a house and that demand for homes in an area can impact your chances of success. After all, there is little point in spending weeks or even months renovating a home if no one is going to buy it.”

AB Drylining is a Wiltshire-based company with nearly two decades of experience in the residential and commercial sector across a range of services, including dry lining, plastering, partitioning and rendering.
