A nationwide open-air cinema company has just announced its UK tour dates and confirmed it will be heading for Swindon this summer.

The Cinema Outdoor tour is set in a variety of locations across the country including parks, historic sites and even prisons, offering a unique experience with every cinema trip.

After eight years of screenings around the UK, the company is now set to arrive at the grounds of Swindon Cricket Club in July 2024 with two cinema showings under the stars.

Each show will come complete with comfortable seating, state-of-the-art sound and visual equipment, and a selection of snacks, hot food and drinks at the bar available to purchase.

Free parking and toilets are available, but customers must bring their own chairs or picnic blankets unless they have purchased a VIP experience.

Dogs are welcome and visitors can even bring their own drinks if they wish to.

"We are thrilled to bring our outdoor cinema experience to venues across the UK, providing audiences with the opportunity to enjoy iconic films in a unique and unforgettable setting,” said Mo Davies, Director of Outdoor Cinema.

"There is something truly special about watching a film outdoors, surrounded by nature and the night sky and we want to create an unforgettable experience for movie lovers of all ages in that environment.”

The movies on show at Swindon's open-air cinema

The Greatest Showman

The Greatest Showman will be shown at Swindon Cricket Ground on Saturday, June 15.

The event will be open from 7.30pm to 11.30pm, with the movie starting at 9.30pm, but we suggest you get there early so you can secure a good view and stock up on snacks.

Organisers hope that the 'under the stars' setting will bring an extra element of magic to the movie.

The film is rated as PG and tickets are priced at £10 for under 16s, £14.99 for adults or £25 for the VIP deck chair experience.

Mamma Mia

Mamma Mia will be shown at Swindon Cricket Ground on Sunday, June 16.

As with The Greatest Showman, the event will be open from 7.30pm to 11.30pm and the movie will start at 9.30pm.

Organisers have warned that you'll need your singing and dancing shoes on for this one, and this heartwarming musical is expected to bring joy and laughter to the Cricket Ground.

To avoid disappointment, it should be emphasised that this showing will be of the original Mamma Mia movie and not the sequel.

The film is rated PG and ticket prices are the same as the Saturday showing.
