The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates' Court this month.

NINE ELMS: Emma Whelan, of Oasthouse Close, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 25-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Peugeot 208 along Okus Road on March 24, 2024, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in your breath, namely 122 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

This was more than three times the legal limit.

She has been banned from driving for 29 months and ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work as well as pay £85 in court costs plus £114 to fund victim services.

WESTBURY: Benjamin Preece, of Sycamore Grove, has been jailed for harassment and criminal damage.

The 38-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to breaching a restraining order without reasonable excuse by attending a woman’s address and contacting her, and admitted to causing £180 worth of damage to the same woman’s Vauxhall Golf on January 22, 2024.

He has been sent behind bars for 18 weeks because the breach occurred shortly after the restraining order was imposed, and because of his previous record against the victim.

The defendant must also pay £180 in compensation.

SWINDON: A 17-year-old boy from Swindon has been sentenced for three offences.

The youth, who cannot be identified due to his age, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cannabis in Swindon between April 14 and May 18, 2023, and having a machete in a public place on May 18, 2023, and April 2, 2024.

He received a youth rehabilitation order which includes a three-month electronically-monitored curfew, 24 hours of reparation work, and an eight-day weapons awareness course, and must also pay £85 in court costs plus £26 to fund victim services.

The Class B drug has been forfeited and destroyed.

TOWN CENTRE: Kayleigh Nicholls, of Clarence Street, has been sentenced for assaulting emergency service workers.

The 28-year-old indicated pleas of guilty to beating a male police officer and carrying out common assault of two female police officers and a paramedic in Swindon on March 22, 2024.

She must pay £25 in compensation to each of her four victims.

OLD TOWN: Rafael Camleo, of Devizes Road, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 42-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a black Citroen C15D along Gambia Street on March 2, 2024, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath, namely 100 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

He has been banned from driving for 25 months, fined £115, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs as well as £46 to fund victim services.

PARK NORTH: Joshua Wetherill, of Buckland Close, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 21-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Corsa Combo along Lyndhurst Crescent on March 23, 2024, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath namely 80 microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

He has been banned from driving for 20 months, fined £200, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs as well as £200 to fund victim services.

WROUGHTON: James Scanlan, of Edgar Row Close, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 47-year-old pleaded guilty to driving an Alfa Romeo along the village’s High Street on March 22, 2024, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath, namely 60 microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

He has been banned from driving for 17 months, fined £807, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs plus £323 to fund victim services.
