A takeaway offering freshly made pasta has set up roots on a popular Swindon road.

Rodbourne Road, in Rodbourne, is home to many independent and locally-owned businesses and new among them is Frank's Kitchen.

The Italian takeaway is the brainchild of Portuguese man Francisco Dionisio and has been open for a few weeks.

The new food offering and brand new business from Francisco or 'Frank' has taken the place of the former Tim's Baguettes which had previously permanently closed.

Frank says that it has so far 'it has not been too busy and it has not been too quiet' but he is hoping that his food will soon become a popular part of the local community, and judging by the extremely positive reviews he's well on his way to achieving that.

"I love to cook and I love cooking pasta most of all," he said, "So when the opportunity to open Frank's Kitchen came up, I jumped at the opportunity."

Before going it alone with his own takeaway business, Frank was working in a warehouse, but going further back his culinary origins were firmly rooted towards Italian cuisine.

The 42-year-old had worked his way up to become a manager for the Italian restaurant chain Prezzo, and he had even helped to open the Prezzo in Swindon as part of the management team.

After doing this he returned home to Portugal, came back and got the warehouse job, but it was never what he wanted to do.

So when the opportunity arose, he spent two months getting the store ready for its opening last month.

It offers a small number of different pasta dishes to cater to every taste.

Each one is then freshly made to order and prepared in front of you, before being served in generous portions.

"The reaction has been so good," Frank said, as evidenced by his five-star rating on Google.

"I've had a lot of support from local businesses, who keep coming back to try the food. I love meeting people and making them happy.

"Recently there was a man from Germany who came in and asked if I did fish and chips, I said no, I do pasta, and convinced him to try it. He was in Swindon just for three days and after eating my pasta he came back for the second and third day.

"It's a good feeling when the customer comes inside a second time and they have a smile on their face."
