CONFIDENT Malmsbury Vics boss Ken Regan believes sacrificing his summer rest will be worth it once the season kicks off.

Regan, who starts his first full season with the Vics, has been glued to his mobile this summer getting players to the club and has an impressive haul to show for his efforts.

Most notably ex-Highworth pair Gareth Davies, pictured, and Kevin Coles have made the switch to the Flying Monk ground, a double capture Regan says shows his side’s intent.

He said: “I’m over the moon to get two players of this calibre to the club and it shows we want to be a serious contender this season.”

The Vics finished third from bottom last time out, but the new recruits have installed enough confidence to spark talk of a title charge.

Regan said: “Promotion is our aim and with the players we’ve brought in I’m confident we can achieve it.”

The fixture list has also been kind to Regan giving his side an opening run of three home games, something he wants to make count.

“A good start to the season will get us up and running,” he added.

“We are looking at having nine points on the board by the time we make our first away trip.”

Team spirit is something the Vics boss regards highly and he feels his squad have gelled well already.

“The new players have come straight in and have bonded well with the rest of the squad,” said Regan.

“I looked at a particular type of person that I wanted to bring to the club and all the lads we have here fit the bill.

“We are now just looking forward to starting what we hope to be a successful season.”
