WELCOME to our fourth webchat on the elected mayor debate. Today's guest webchatter is Swindon Lib Dem leader Stan Pajak.

Coun Pajak (Lib Dem, Eastcott)raised a motion at the last full council meeting urging the council to support TalkSwindon's online petition about a referendum on elected mayors.

He said that he thought the Adver's Great Mayoral Debate was a good idea.

"I have a feeling that this is one of those issues that is slowly gaining momentum," he said.

"I remember, years ago, presenting a motion about having a public question time, which was defeated not once but twice. Now that is an accepted part of the council but it was fought for at the time. I think elected mayors will be similar."
