A sound was erupting from deep inside Greendown School. It was not traditional music, a string quartet or a brass band but the noise of pipes banging together and metal crashing in chorus. The Weapons of Sound workshop had arrived for one day in early November and with over 75 students taking part it was sure to be a loud affair.
This workshop was all about getting students to listen and work together through the join of sound and music but in a truly different fashion. It was a fun and very expressive time for all the Year 7 and 8 students who took part. Many wished it could go on for more than one day.
“I loved the way we played everyday items, such as metal pipes and shopping trolleys”, said one Year 7 student. “It was so loud but we all got stuck in and have learnt more about working together to make music”.
