BRUNEL Shopping Centre’s Christmas Gift Appeal has now been officially launched at the Swindon Advertiser.
Shoppers can now donate presents by putting them in large appeal boxes provided in the centre and in most of the shops and other town locations.
The campaign – which will end with the donated gifts being distributed to children connected to three charities – is also supported by GWR Radio and Swindon Town Football Club.
Swindon Women's Refuge, Great Western Hospital's Children's Ward and the Variety Club are all part of the Christmas charity scheme.
The Adver has an appeal box in our office in Victoria Road in Old Town, while Swindon Town Football Club has one in its Legends’ Lounge.
Three girls from Old Town each gave a gift to the appeal.
Sisters Ellie and Phoebe Hooper and seven-year-old Molly Strong, thought it was brilliant to do something for charity.
Ellie, 12, said: “It’s nice to give another child something nice at Christmas, which might cheer them up.”
They put a Monopoly board game, Tracy Beaker’s journal and a crayon fun set into the appeal box yesterday.
Mick Jones, 45, of Rodbourne, added: “It’s a good idea and I hope as many gifts are donated as possible.”
