A FORMER drug dealer refused to answer questions during her testimony into a kidnap trial.

Annette Haynes, from Park North, said she didn’t want to get anyone else in trouble.

Appearing in the witness box at Bristol Crown Court she said she didn’t remember numerous incidents and names put to her by prosecutors.

And although the 40-year-old known as “Nettie” was upfront when it came to other details of her drug dealing she claimed to know nothing when she was asked about other people she came into contact with.

She was giving evidence on the fourth week of the trial into the alleged kidnap and rape of a Swindon woman by a gang of suspected drug dealers.

Chris Quinlan, prosecuting, said: “Do you know anyone named Bandit, Midget, Colin Haywood?”

She replied “nope.”

He then asked: “Who took you to London?”

Ms Haynes said: “I got a drive to London from friends, associates, but I don’t remember their names.

“I don’t want to give people’s names, I don’t want to get other people in trouble.”

During cross examination, she did admit that people in the drug scene often went by nicknames and often switched their names to disguise their identity.

When discussing her own drug habit and dealing she said that she often sold heroin from her mother’s house. She said: “I was an addict, I did two bags a day, which were £10 each. I did crack occasionally.

“I funded my habit by stealing from various shops.

“I didn’t deal for the money, I did it to keep up my habit.

“There’s been a few unpleasant visitors to my house.

“There was a few occasions when I sold drugs from my mum’s house and obviously those customers weren’t happy.

“They would get angry if I had undercut them on a deal or something.”

When Mr Quinlan asked if she used to hide upstairs when angry “customers” used to come round to her house. She said: “Sometimes.”

Iffy Ndidi, 21, Tunasho Chisanga, 29, Christopher Vernon, 31, Modele Adenekan, 22, and Shane Nevins all deny kidnap. Ndidi, Vernon and Nevins deny conspiracy to supply class A drugs, admitted by Chisanga and Adenekan.

And Vernon and Chisanga stand accused of raping the woman.
