On Friday the 5th of June, ten children from Peatmoor Community Primary School went to do a robotic challenge day at STFC (Swindon town football club).

The ten children were, Chloe Pike, Rebecca Wiltshire, Georgia Croucher, Anahita Falaki, Samuel Orchard, Natasha Brown and several others. They were accompanied by the lovely Mrs Wiltshire. We were against schools like Lainsmead and seven other schools.

We had to design, build attachments to go on the robot and program the robot in order to complete many different challenges on the table. The challenges included pushing wind turbines; placing a dam; mining a coal mine; moving a hydraulic car to a house and taking the pick-up truck to the farm. Between the ten of us, we had to split into two teams of five. One group consisted of Dominic Hall, Samuel Orchard, Darcey James, Chloe Pike and Georgia Croucher. In this group, the two boys programmed and built attachments to go on the robot whilst the other three girls, made the presentation which was the best, unfortunately they didn’t get their certificate. The other five won the robotic challenge with one hundred and sixty five points and the difference between first and second was a whopping twenty five points!

The person who programmed the winning robot was Anahita Falaki and Natasha Brown helped make the attachments. Rebecca Wiltshire, Natasha McKenzie and Megan Williams created the PowerPoint which did very well. Overall, everyone had a brilliant time and we all enjoyed the day out of school.
