On Thursday 4th of June, twelve students from Peatmoor Community School went to Greendown secondary school to record a song called Chasing cars! (By Snow Patrol). At first the children were completely and utterly terrified at the thought of recording their own version, because the year 9’s performed the song, which was a very high standard!

At about 10:00am they got the chance to play the instruments which included the electric guitar; the acoustic guitar; the keyboard and the electric drums. Surprisingly, some children took to the instruments as if they had been playing them for a very long time! Once all the children had tried all of the instruments, they had to choose which six children went in each band and which instrument they wanted to play (it was a very tough decision to make).

One of the groups was called 'HEXAGON ROCK' and the other was called 'HUSH'! In the group HUSH there were two students playing the keyboard (who were also back up singers); another two students playing the guitars; a young boy on the electric drums and an amazing singer.

In HEXAGON ROCK there was one person on the keyboard; two boys singing as well as two year 9’s; two boys on the guitars and one awesome boy who played the drums like a professional! The children really enjoyed listening to each other even though it took some time to get going!

After a long, tough rehearsal, the children went onto the massive field and ate their lunch, just before the older children.

After lunch they had to design their CD packaging, HUSH had the children posing as Charlie’s angles, HEXAGON ROCK had a photo of all the children inside a ruby red hexagon. They were brilliant covers!

By now the children were all excited and nervous as they were going to do the hardest bit of the day, record their song! It didn’t take long because the children were excellent at playing their own parts and it all just came together in seconds, they were super talented!

One of the children quoted: "I found it extremely exciting and I really want to do it again so I can get better at it; maybe I can join a band."

It was the most incredible day, and the children all had their own CD's to keep as a memory of the day! It was a once in a life time experience.
