SWINDON Pride 09 have just announced two headline acts who will perform at the gay festival.

Pop stars Hazell Dean and Andy Scott-Lee will grace the stage at the Town Gardens on Saturday, August 15.

Dean rose to fame in the 1980s as a singer, writer and performer. Her hits include Searchin’, Who’s Leaving Who and Whatever I Do.

Scott-Lee is a former member of the group 3SL and is the brother of Steps singer Lisa Scott-Lee.

Pride organiser Mark Oliver, said: “I think the two acts add a good balance to the event and appeal to two very different audiences. It’s great to have secured two big names for this year’s Swindon Pride.”

Those acts already confirmed so far are Swindon drag artist Cheery Poppin, local rock band Hyperbolics, the Bristol gay choir and a cabaret show from Miss Bridy and Jason.

Last year’s inaugural Swindon Pride was attended by 7,000 visitors, with a popular mix of bands and singers playing to the public at the Bowl.

The Swindon Pride dog show has extended the deadline for entries to Monday, August 3 at 5pm.

Owners can choose from five categories: Prettiest pooch, butchest bitch, looky likey, scruffiest mutt and dog of the year.
