IT MUST be love — pop veterans Madness have agreed to play a gig in Swindon.

The Nutty Boys will play at the Oasis in December, it was revealed last night.

The band will perform songs from their latest top-five selling album The Liberty of Norton Folgate, as well as a selection of their classics on Monday, December 7.

They will follow top acts The Saturdays and Kasabian, who have both performed at the North Star venue in recent months.

Fans have predicted the lure of seeing the cult band at the Swindon Council run venue will lead to a quick sellout.

Dave Young, a musician and landlord of The Victoria in Old Town and The 12 Bar in Swindon town centre, said: “It is awesome. For me Madness are the biggest band the Oasis has had, and it will sell out very quickly.

“They are a retro band coming back in. They went down a storm at the Glastonbury Festival. From the footage I saw they were one of the best acts.”

They will release two more compilation albums — Total Madness and One Step Beyond — ahead of the concert.

Tickets will go on sale on Friday. The concert will be standing room only and tickets will cost £33.50 plus a £2.50 booking fee if they are bought directly from the Oasis.

Tickets can be bought from the box office by calling 01793 445 401 or through the web at www.
