REHEARSALS are under way for this month’s gang show, called Let’s Party.

More than 100 Swindon Scouts and Guides are brushing up on their acting skills at the Wyvern Theatre.

Director Jane Harvey said: “It is a lot of hard work but the idea of a gang show is as old as time so it is worth it to keep the tradition alive.

“Lots of children always get involved but I think the age range is from eight years old to over 50.”

The cast spent Sunday at Drove Primary School, in Drove Road, practising for the festive production, which includes dancing, singing and comedy sketches.

The young cast will also be performing popular songs from musicals Wicked and Oklahoma.

Samuel James, 10, of 1st Wanborough Scouts, said: “I have been in the gang show before and it was such good fun.

“Everyone is really happy and smiley and you get to meet lots of new people.”

Girl Guide Anya Bryan, from 8th Swindon, said: “I really enjoy performing to people and this really helps you learn a lot more. I have made lots of friends and I am really excited about being on stage at the theatre.”

The gang show will be on stage at the Wyvern Theatre, in Theatre Square, at 7.30pm daily from Wednesday, November 25 to Saturday, November 28. There will also be a 2.30pm matinee performance on Saturday, November 28.
