A woman driver had to be cut from her car after crashing into a signpost on the sliproad to the M4 at junction 17, near Chippenham, yesterday morning.
Drivers were urged to take extra care when approaching the Stanton St Quintin roundabout after the grey Seat Ibiza hit the signpost on the A350, which is currently undergoing roadworks, shortly before 10am.
A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: “We received a 999 call to the scene at approximately 9.40am after a driver came off the roundabout and struck a new sign.
“Paramedics and ambulance crews attended the scene and fire crews had to cut the roof from the car so the female could be freed.”
The carriageway was reduced to a single lane due to a number of emergency vehicles sent to deal with the incident.
