A TEENAGER with learning difficulties has admitted carrying out two robberies and asked for three similar offences to be taken into consideration.

Rhys Carey, 18, pleaded guilty to robbing Neil Bennett of £20 and then six weeks later taking Lena Jones’ handbag and contents.

The robberies both took place on Cricklade Road, Gorse Hill, on August 28 and October 1.

Andrew Hobson, defending, said his client had problems with learning difficulties having suffered hydrocephalus, or water on the brain, as a child.

Carey, of Louise Rayner Place, Chippenham, pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery and asked for three further matters to be taken into consideration when he is sentenced.

Judge Jamie Tabor QC adjourned the case to Friday, January 8 to allow Carey’s doctor and the probation service to submit reports.

Carey was released on bail on condition he lives at his home address, stays out of Swindon, does not contact witnesses and observes a 6pm to 6am tagged curfew.
