SWINDON’s central library, pictured, has scooped a national design award for its use of bricks.
The award was presented to Swindon’s borough architect Nic Newland by host MP Michael Portillo at the annual brick awards in London.
The decision to use traditional bricks for the library, which opened last year, was made to provide continuity with the adjoining Edwardian town hall, and because they will age well over the building’s lifetime.
