THE long-lost brother of abuse victim Leanne White, who leapt to her death in Swindon in 2003, has thanked the scores of people who have come forward to help him get to know his tragic sister.

Matt Cameron said he deeply moved by the response.

Mrs White was 29 when she jumped from a multi-storey car park in the town amid fears her childhood abuser George Davison was soon to be released from jail.

She was adopted when she was a child and her biological brother has spent half his life searching for her.

Since the Adver told of his plight last week a number of Leanne’s friends and family have come forward to help fill Mr Cameron in on what his sister was like.

The Adver has also learnt that paedophile Davison actually died last year, adding a final twist to the tragic tale.

Mr Cameron, 32, from Dorset, regularly comes to pay his respects at his sister’s grave.

He said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has come forward.

“I just want to know what my sister was like, what her hobbies were and small things like what she found funny – there is a big black hole I want to fill.

“I was just hoping for a few people to come forward and fill me in but the more people the better.”

Among the people who have contacted the Adver to help Mr Cameron with his quest, was another of Davison’s victims.

She said: “It is horrific that this happened to Leanne and is worse that she couldn’t live to know he died.

“He was an evil man and I just hope Leanne can now rest in peace.”

Leanne was abused from the age of 11 to 14 by Davidson, 68, who was a family friend.

She was one of 13 Swindon girls preyed on by the paedophile who was sentenced to 15 years in jail in 1996 for rape and indecent assault.

He was later released after serving only half of his sentence.

His last address before going to jail was in New Meadow Copse in Ladymead, Peatmoor, but he lived at various addresses in Swindon from the mid 1960s and carried out numerous assaults on girls between 1965 and 1991.

He was found guilty of all six indecent assault charges against him at his first trial in November 1996.

In the second trial in December 1996 he was convicted of rape and another six counts of indecent assault and was cleared of one charge of indecent assault.

It is believed that he died of natural causes in Swindon in January last year.

Anna Morcombe, from Wroughton, a friend of Leanne’s, said: “She was a lovely woman and was well liked. I don’t know anyone who would say anything other than that really.

“She is missed in the community and her brother should know what a lovely, kind woman his sister was.”
