On Friday 13th of November, the students of Nova Hreod went to see the author Darren Shan at the Wyvern Theatre.

Before we got on the bus, all the students coming on the trip met in the LRC. Ms Slaven-Holder spoke us about behaviour and expectations and that there would be other schools from across Swindon coming to see Darren.

On the bus, it took about 10 minutes to ¼ of an hour to get to the Wyvern. When we got to the Wyvern, we crossed the lobby and into the theatre room. We sat wherever we wanted, as long it was on the back row.

We waited for Darren to come onto stage. A person working at the theatre introduced us to the Wyvern and also introduced Darren Shan. When Darren came on stage, there was a huge round of applause.

The clapping lowered in volume but the excitement was still very high. Darren started to talk about his books.

Then he needed a few volunteers from the audience to help him act out an extract from the first book in the Saga of Darren Shan, Cirque de Freak.

After that, Darren started to tell us what happened in his other books and what they’re about. Then he read out an extract of a book from a different series that he created, Lord Loss.

He didn’t need any volunteers and this extract was very gory. After the extract was read out, he started talking about the books again.

We was then able to ask questions and I was able to ask one, “ What was your favourite book of all time” I asked. When all the questions were answered, the visit had ended and we travelled back to school.
