THESE are the two Swindon men who have been sentenced to a total of nine years for class-A drug offences.

Michael Hambidge, 25, from Ripon Way, Park South, and James Bradley, a 22-year-old carpet fitter from Barrington Close, Liden, were found guilty at Swindon Crown Court of the possession of cocaine with intent to supply.

The pair were arrested on February 2 this year after police carried out a search warrant in Shaftsbury Avenue, Park South.

A search of the property, where Hambidge and Bradley were, revealed just under a quarter of a kilo of cocaine with an estimated street value of £12,000.

Hambidge pleaded not guilty to the offence and after a three-day trial was sentenced to six years imprisonment on Thursday last week.

Bradley, who had pleaded guilty, was sentenced to three years on Friday last week.

Detective Constable George Booth, of Swindon Police, said: “The sentences given reflect the seriousness of this type of crime.

“The effect of drugs is felt throughout our communities as they are often linked with other crimes including theft, robbery and violent crime.

“We welcome all information we receive in connection with drugs and people can feel safe that any information they provide will be treated confidentially and will be acted upon.

“We continue to work closely with colleagues at the Crown Prosecution Service to ensure appropriate charges are brought against those guilty of these serious offences.”
